Rulers of Evil
California Gov. Jerry Brown is heading to the U.N. Climate Change conference, which opens Monday, where he will promote the state’s efforts to curb greenhouse gas emissions and urge other states and provinces to sign on to his climate pact.
So far, 57 jurisdictions from 19 countries have added their signatures to a memorandum promising to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent below 1990 levels by 2030.
Always behind the one we see in power is a Jesuit
Brown, a Democrat, has toured the world talking about climate change this year, seeking to build a legacy on the issue before he leaves office in 2018.
But at home in California, he has also faced repeated criticism for supporting expanded oil drilling and refusing to ban hydraulic fracturing — positions climate activists say undermine his global warming message.
I am applying the truth I was brought up on.” The truth of the Jesuits’ founder, Ignatius Loyola, whose principles, says Brown, have “worked for 400 years.” (Source)

Early life and education
Brown was born in San Francisco, the only son of former San Francisco lawyer, District attorney and later Democratic governor Edmund G. “Pat” Brown, Sr. He graduated from St. Ignatius High School and studied at Santa Clara University. In 1958, he entered Sacred Heart Novitiate, a Jesuit seminary, intending to become a Catholic priest. However, Brown left the seminary and entered the University of California, Berkeley, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Classics in 1961. Brown went on to Yale Law School and graduated with a Juris Doctor in 1964. After law school, Brown worked as a law clerk for Mathew Tobriner, who was a justice for the Supreme Court of California, and studied in Mexico and Latin America.
“That occasionally all-too-real cliche is the opposite of Jerry Brown. A Jesuit intellectual as a youth, a person still filled with strong moral conviction, in reality he’s straightforward, honest, sensible, down-to-earth.” ~Source:

What progressive values are personally most important to you?
Except for Gov. Jerry Brown, who provided a letter of recommendation for him, Newsom said, “there wasn’t much expectation that I’d get into any university.”
Brown, who attended Santa Clara University himself for a year before leaving for the Jesuit seminary, said nothing of the letter he wrote for Newsom. (Source)

Gavin Newsome’s response:
………”That interesting, you know, I guess this is my Jesuit upbringing. It comes from the Bible where there are many parts, but one body, where when one suffers, we all suffer. I mean it’s a fundamental, a very human value. It’s a spiritual one, it’s also a secular one and I think a progressive one nonetheless.” (Source)
