We are losing over 200 species a day!  here  which is nearly 70,000 peryear, fish are beaching themselves in mass suicides regularly due to acidic seas and naval ops as the Africantimes headlines read ‘Record Elephant Deaths due to Thirst for Ivory.’ here. 93% of fish are going extinct and the pumps pump radioactive fallout into the Pacific Oceans from nuclear Fukishima on a daily basis.

Actions are being implemented globally each and every day to insure that every last resource that can be convertible to short term material profit will be done so using ever more advanced technological efficiencies and complicity regulatory approval solely for the wealth of the few at the expense of all else.  “Hey got the new 200 species-extinction-a-day Ap yet?”

We have entered into a major food, fish and water crisis in the U.S..  Food prices jumped 9% in January alone and 15% in 2012 whereas the USDA had predicted a 4-5% increase for all of 2013!  Food scarcity (scares in the city?) are a very real concern in the country going forward.

Globally we are witnessing accelerated depletion of food groups through severe, uncertain volatile weather, droughts putting farmers out of business, monopolized food supplies insuring a one GMO fits all policy and the very beginnings of major league fracking across the country trading fuel for cars at the expense of our own food and health of our people and our childrens lands.

The water wars and fracking are being implemented directly against our country’s largest source of domestic food, produce and critical water supply in the worlds 8th largest economy; California. In the 20th century CA agriculture could produce enough food to feed this country. Then, only last decade, it could not grow enough food to feed just all Californians.  Now Fracking and water diverting from farmlands is accelerating the ability to maintain these levels of production while leaving a scorched earth when all is sucked, sold and dried…

This comes at the exact same time the Obama Administration is to be cutting the national food stamp program which just hit a record high this week of those in need here.  Thank you Michele Obama and Agenda 21.  Also, there are strong signs that our Dictator in Residence will be taking control of the Internet sometime soon, as early a next week here directly after he bypassed Congress today and signed a new Cyber security bill that Congress failed twice to approve. here

There are also major signs of a well advertised, well planned false flag cyber attack on national banking system to steal the wealth of all, since in practice they already have done so through MF Global and other financial heists recently, so take at least some of your money out of the banks, you can afford to miss the .003% interest they ‘offer’ to try and protect your assets.

The bankster’s have gamed the system, have tested the waters by stealing from their customers, some professional commodity traders at that,  and have gotten away with serious white collar crimes so far. There are no first time buyers getting any loans to start the buying or people ‘trading up’ into more expensive homes, it is an artificial bubble created to support home prices temporarily.  All purchased homes now are with cash only or through investment groups and through the QE3 government repurchase of mortgages to the tune of $40 Billion per month, when the private Federal Reserve arbitrarily decides to halt these buybacks, look out below as the 2008 lows will be taken out rather quickly and the U.S. Government with their bankster cronies will become the biggest slumlords in Amerika.

Furthermore, the government is planning to tax all sales of homes through new ‘energy audits’ as well as come into your homes to see if any mold or toxicity exist, which we will have to pay for. This will put further difficulties in selling your home. This is not only a gross intrusion on our rights to be left the hell alone, but another tax we all will be paying and paying for on top of all the other taxes planned for you and me, such as:

The Occupy Movement came and went.  And though the first spark from Tunisia has erupted once again, the citizens of this country seem to not be willing to confront the power and challenge the status quo in any meaningful way. Business as usual seems to be the default while collapse is everywhere one chooses to look yet our government seems to have other plans for its people as live military drills are being conducted openlyin many cities across the country using live gunfire (firing blanks) and Blackhawk helicopters.  It was only several years ago that Bush jr. gutted the Posse Comitatus Act here, which forbade using militray on our homeland, now they are ‘practicing’.

With new Orwellian laws in place now to extinguish any freedom we have enjoyed and no real alternative opposition of size and consequence it would appear to be sane to take refuge where one can and shelter from the coming series of shit storms ahead of us all.  Getting a self reliant, self sufficient lifestyle as best you can to get through some very difficult times ahead may make all the difference if you don’t have to leave your homes for a few days or weeks.
Getting ‘prepped’, building community around you, getting to know your neighbors,  joining a CSA, starting a garden, etc. are all good ways to help mitigate the changes we all will be facing for quite some time.

We all must remember that we are all chosen for these incredible times to be shaken and awakened, alerted and alarmed to our higher potential and destiny’s.  As you can see from the first couple of disturbing articles below their is the concentrated effort to realign the global society into a new consumerism in Asia so that ‘they; can play the debt game on an even larger ‘Upwardly Mobile Society’ while the U.S becomes/is now a very, very large Banana Republic that makes little, has little to offer the world other than military force dictated from very centralized power, and is controlled only through the ignorance of the people and the military enforcement through their media induced psyop fear tactics.

The great news is that the American spirit is rising again. People are waking up and creating, creating creating in localized communities and towns. Those that wish to swim upstream against the rough currents, to spawn new visions of much better ways, must go mightily where few wish to go right now.  As more understand and ‘get it’ we will gain strength to change but it will take awhile, maybe a lifetime or two. It is time to let go of the shore and swim with the others who have freed themselves and seek self reliance and independence.

To ignore all that is happening is to be ignorant, to not care is to be cold blooded and to not see is to be blind as to our world today and the future trends.

Remember, even a dead fish can always go with the flow yet every outcome is always uncertain as long as Man and Woman have free will and love as their guiding star!

Radical Food Price Increases From Here On Out

(these rapid price increase are occurring  before the information below on fracking plans for CA where vast amounts of water are being taken from farms to feed the extraction machines for our cars.)

The U.S. Department of Agriculture reported today that January agricultural product prices received by farmers rose 9% in January compared with December prices. Prices were 15% higher than in January 2012. The prices paid index (i.e., the cost of producing the crops) rose 1.4% above the December index and is up 5.2% compared with January 2012.

Mayan

The Mayan civilization flourished in South America for hundreds of years and built a society similar in technological ability and city building prowess to the ancient Egyptions, with their Pyramid like Zygaruts jutting out of dense jungle, large city developments and extensive farming.  Unfortunately, the Mayans did not adequately respond to seasonal changes in crop production nor did they effectively manage their environment.  Continued over defforrestation and the resulting degradation of soils through over farming of the same fields without crop rotation led the Mayans to a massive collapse of their food production, leading to famine, disease, and in a matter of just a few years, total destruction of their civilization.
If they had paid attention the signs would have been there, rainwater washing away over exposed soils, decreasing crop production as soil quaility diminished, raising disease levels as populations become too concentrated.

Easter Island

Unfortunately, yet again, the Easter Island civilization perished almost over night.  Defforestation is seen as the root cause, with the removal of the tree cover the soil on Easter Island became exposed to weatherization and degraded to a point in which crops could not adequately grow and feed their population – famine would come, then disease, then the mass die-out.   Yet again the information would have been there to see, steadily declining tree coverage, rains washing away the soils, crop production decreasing with each year as the soil weathered and washed away.–

In the Antartic circle we take deep core samples of the packed ice, we sample the chemical make up of air bubbles trapped in this ice and can tell the make up of the atmosphere 50 years ago, 100 years ago, 1000 years ago, 10,000 years ago and so on.   In Space we have the ISS and hundreds of other satellites measuring global temperatures, forest density, atmospheric gases.   On land we have cameras watching glacier levels, weather stations recording snowfall, wind, rain, temperature.    Surely we have been watching the data, we have been collecting the data, so surely, obviously, we aren’t as stupid as the Mayans and Easter Islanders right ?

Umm, actually yes we are.   A majority of Americans still disbelieve climate change is real and man made; over 60% in fact, even though 99% of scientists in this field agree fully with the findings of the major research instituations, and the United Nations, that this is very much real, very dangerous, and needing urgent attention.

We are adopting the same patterns as the Mayans and Easter Islanders, assuming everything will be alright, writing off any evidence to the contrary as a blip, shooting the messenger when we don’t like the reality we are being told of…

(CNN) — Residents of large swaths of central and Southern California and Arizona shivered Saturday as plummeting temperatures prompted freeze warnings. In Atlanta, meanwhile, shorts-wearing residents basked in the balmy weather as it and two other major Georgia cities set record highs for this date.

The weird weekend weather had temperatures as much as 30 degrees below normal in parts of the West and 30 degrees above normal in the East, said CNN meteorologist Jenny Harrison.

So How Is Geoengineering Effecting The “Forecast” Maps And The Weather?

Here is the important consideration between these maps, in general, the further above average the temperatures are, the more precipitation there will be. The lower the temps, the less precipitation there will be. At first glance this could seem straight forward enough. After all, the atmosphere does hold 7% more moisture for every degree of temperature rise, but that is not the full story any longer. The atmosphere is being completely saturated with toxic, reflective, desiccating geoengineering particulates, and the jet stream increasingly appears to be consistently manipulated with ionosphere heater installations. The more the geoengineers spray to try and cool down the temperatures, the less it will rain, period. (The science is clear on this. Google “geoengineering reduces rainfall” , there are simply too many studies on this to link only one.) Add “artificial ice nucleation” to the spray mix and the precipitation appears to go down still further. “Artificial ice nucleation” is a chemical process that can produce colder weather/cloud temperatures and snow out of what should have been a rain storm at well above freezing temperatures. If the temps are already cold enough for snow, this same process can lower the temperatures even further, but at a cost, not much snow compared to historical norms.

There are, of course, exceptions to this when a very moisture laden storm system is ice nucleated, but the “snow” from such system “conversions” is “heavy wet snow”. This recent term coined by the Weather Channel describes the concrete-like “snow” that sticks like glue to trees and causes utter decimation to the forests. Broken and tipped over trees are everywhere in the Pacific Northwest from just such an “ice nucleated” storm in late December. The massive amount of heavy metals in these snow storms, tested at the state certified lab, proves our storms are being “seeded”. This “seeding” of artificial ice nucleating agents is accomplished by spray disbursement into the clouds of a weather system by jet aircraft.

Why Fracking is So Bad

There are 830,000 oil and gas wells across the US, 90% of which are being fracked. Up to 8 million gallons of water and 40,000 gallons of chemicals (as many as 300 combilned chemicals) are used each time a well is fracked. Individual wells can be fracked as many as 10 times.

When the concrete barriers crack, methane gas and toxic chemicals leach into groundwater. Methane concentrations are 17x higher in drinking-water wells near fracturing sites. Only 30-50% of the toxic fluid is recovered, the rest is simply left underground. Fracking is now also believed to cause earthquakes.

One critical takeaway is that the United States, and all her resources are all in play to be extracted and sold off abroad for their benefits.  China is to become the new consumer, for the global wealthy elite, who hold no loyalty to any one country and will gladly destroy this country for ‘maximized shareholder wealth’.

Really, Really Frack’d Up ~ CA to become the ‘Saudi Arabia’ of Fracked Oil

California is sitting on a massive amount of shale oil and could become the next oil boom state. But only if the industry can get the stuff out of the ground without upsetting the state’s powerful environmental lobby.

Running from Los Angeles to San Francisco, California’s Monterey Shale is thought to contain more oil than North Dakota’s Bakken and Texas’s Eagle Ford — both scenes of an oil boom that’s created thousands of jobs and boosted U.S. oil production to the highest rate in over a decade.

In fact, the Monterey is thought to hold over 400 billion barrels of oil, according to IHS Cambridge Energy Research Associates. That’s nearly half the conventional oil in all of Saudi Arabia. The United States consumes about 19 million barrels of oil a day.

“Four hundred billion barrels, that doesn’t escape anyone in this businesses,” said Stephen Trammel, energy research director at IHS.

“I’ve had the rashes, the nosebleeds, my tongue has bled shortly after the fracking process began on those wells,” said Dirk Deturk at his home in Greenbrier where he resides with his wife, Eva. Dirk chairs Faulkner County Concerned Citizens Advisory Group (CCAG), formed to protect locals, mainly from fossil fuel industry’s abuses through hydro-fracking Fayetteville Shale.

“We’re surrounded by 14 wells within two miles. Within a thousand feet, there are six of them,” Dirk said, later describing alarming numbers of related suicides, miscarriages, babies dying and house explosions. During Vampire of Macondo book signings on Jan. 29 and 30, other CCAG members added to the list of local fracking industry extreme rights abuses against residents and workers: abnormal bleeding, passing out, insomnia, respiratory and neurological diseases, rashes and boils, and over 1400 earthquakes.

Global Food Crisis Spreading

Once a bastion of European success and center of tourism, the country of Greece has become the harbinger of things to come for the rest of the world’s developed nations. Not long ago Greeks were enjoying high paid salaries, early retirements, excess cash, and seemingly never ending economic growth.

Got Food and Healthy, Clean Water?

With a finite supply of water, Sacramento may have to choose between expanding food production or fracking wells and oil and natural gas production. Either option will likely lead to increases in food or energy costs for consumers.

Out-of-state, (primarily Texas-headquartered) energy companies with deep pockets from record profits and the strongest lobby in Sacramento are anxious to extract as much severance tax-free California oil from the ground as quickly as possible.

Anticipating that a Democratic two-thirds majority could finally mean an end to their decades long free ride they spent so much political action money achieving, not just Exxon/Mobil, but Texaco, Chevron and British Petroleum are all outbidding agricultural water interests by a 3-to-1 margin.

For California farmers, the loss of hundreds of thousands of acre feet of water from the districts means an increase in rates and fewer acre feet allotments intended for new groves of pistachios and almonds, vineyards of grapes and fields of water-intensive alfalfa, tomatoes and corn, that likely will be planted either without increases in acreage or an increase in fallowed fields this year.

According to state ag business analysts, the energy companies’ water grab will likely translate to higher food prices for consumers and increased cost to the production of bio fuels like ethanol that rely on the availability of cheap and abundant corn harvests.

Agriculture water districts from Modesto to Maricopa are reportedly alarmed by the purchasing power of energy companies who are buying up as much water as they can with financial resources traditional agriculture water districts can’t match – as much as three times the rate water districts expected to pay.

Because California’s mineral rights are sold separately from land rights, environmentalists say the dye is cast for the contamination of groundwater supplies and fertile farmland as those who own the oil deposit rights, primarily out-of-state oil interests, have little regard for what happens to the land above or water below.

Financial gain from extraction of California’s remaining oil reserves is too great right now while destruction of the water and land has no financial cost to mineral rights owners.

In Kern County, still the largest oil producing county in California, fracking wells have already consumed 2.8 trillion gallons of potable drinking water from the aqueduct. This industrial use of the water was never envisioned or allotted for by the State’s Department of Water Resources or State Water Project.

Anti-fracking groups have seized upon the water use and its subsequent contamination (it takes up to 8 barrels of water to produce 1 barrel of oil – California currently produces about 240 million barrels of oil annually) to point out that in the extinct Cedar forests of Lebanon or the lost tropical jungle of Easter Island, governments who fail to recognize environmental mistakes too late can embark on irreversible paths that are only beneficial short-term.

(CNSNews.com) – Under the broad banner of “health,” the federal government not only is telling Americans what to eat, it’s also telling us to make our homes safer. This week, the Obama administration released a “bold new vision for addressing the nation’s health and economic burdens caused by preventable hazards associated with the home.”

The project has a name: “Advancing Healthy Housing: A Strategy for Action.”  (AHHA!!!)

The federal partners pushing healthy housing include the White House Council on Environmental Quality, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Surgeon General, and Energy Department.

HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan says the federal government must do “everything we can to ensure that individuals and families have a healthy place to call home.” He said the strategy “will help the federal government unify action (on) controlling and preventing major housing-related exposures and hazards.”

EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson said the government now has a “specific plan for action to address radon and other preventable hazards found in homes across the country.” The strategy, she added, “is a critical step” toward ensuring that “Americans in all communities have healthy places to live, work and play.”

Thanks to the ruling on Sentinel Management Group (SMG) in August of 2012, when a customer deposits money into a bank, the bank essentially issues a promise to have those funds available when the customer returns to withdraw the deposited amount. When the same customer withdraws funds from their account (whether checking or savings) the customer assumes that the bank has enough funds to cover their withdrawal; including the presumption that their monies are separate from the bank’s assets.

Now, those funds are up for grabs by the bank at their discretion without explanation to the customer – nor is the bank obligated to recoup the customer should they “lose” those funds due to bad loans, bankruptcy or stock market loss.

The ruling on SMG has given the banking industry the legal backing they have been lacking when stealing from their customers.

The latest country attributed to the cyber-attacks on US banks is Russia. McAfee Labs warns of a cyber-attack planned for the spring of 2013 that will steal millions of dollars from customer accounts. Thirty US banks have been named as a nameless, faceless band of “criminals” have released a Trojan virus that will remove digital currency from accounts at banks like:

• Fidelity

• Wachovia
• Capital One
• Bank of America

The scheme is referred to as ‘Project Blitzkrieg” (PB). In a beta-testing of the assault, it is reported that 300 bank accounts were affected in the US. The recruitment for PB is being linked to Russian cyber-criminals and an alleged cyber-mafia headed by an anonymous NSD. Those who enter into PB are tasked with infecting specified US computers with predetermined malware, cloning, syphoning passwords and login information, transferring digital information from customer accounts.

Pat Calhoun, a senior vice president at McAfee said: “Our researchers have been pouring into this and what they have found, they actually found somewhere between 300 to 500 devices in the U.S. that have actually been infected with the particular malware that this individual is talking about. That, combined with some additional research we’re doing, has led us to believe this is true. This is actually a real operation that this individual is planning to launch sometime before spring 2013.”

The banking institutions have decided to join forces to fight the cyber-attacks, along with the federal government so that technological vulnerabilities are identified and eliminated. Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs are discussing converging on a shared data center where secret banking information can be kept under wraps so that hackers cannot steal information as well as sound an alarm when other banks are under attack.

This new network of technocrats will privatize customer banking information in the name of security while allowing the banksters to further hide their questionable dealings. Banks across America will be able to communicate in covert means that will never be released to the general public. The days of banking scandals are over because their network will prevent them for being caught.

With at least one out of every four bankers at U.S. Big Banks (that’s how many admitted to being crooks in the survey) thinking that stealing is part of their job descriptions, it’s very important for people to realize how little protection there now is between these thieves and your bank accounts. Based on the writing of a number of other individuals with more expertise in these markets, it is apparently an inherently fraudulent banking process known as “rehypothecation” which is allowing the mass-plundering of accounts at U.S. financial institutions, with other Western financial regulatory authorities also rubber-stamping this relatively new form of bankster crime.

Asian Currencies Devaluing

Why complain when you can engineer the value of your currency?  Beijing has been manipulating the yuan downward, and Seoul has been fiddling with the won.  The South Korean currency is down 2.53% against the dollar since the end of December.  At the same time, the Taiwan dollar is off 2.37% against the greenback.  From all outward appearances, countries in Asia are now engaged in competitive devaluations.”

Chemicals Used in Fracking are ‘Trade Secrets’.

When several unrelated patients visited McMurray, Pa.-based plastic surgeon Amy Paré, MD, she initially was unsure what to make of the bleeding, oozing legions covering their faces.

The wounds were not cancerous, but the inflammation was severe and becoming worse. Dr. Paré’s suspicions grew when she learned that the patients lived near the same natural gas drilling site. Tests later found that the patients had phenol and hippuric acid in their urine, two contact irritants rarely found in humans. The patients improved after they stopped drinking water from their underground wells.

“Knowing what chemicals they had been exposed to would have sped up the process” of treating the patients, said Dr. Paré, who specializes in treating skin conditions.

But at the time, no official route existed for doctors to learn what chemicals patients may have been exposed to near drilling sites, information that remains protected as trade secrets unless lawmakers dictate otherwise

R.U.T.  ‘Realistic Urban Training’ aka Conditioning the Boiling Frogs (thats us) to Accept Our Servitude

This writer is a Navy veteran, receiver of a Navy Commendation medal for lifesaving, Fleet Marine Force Expeditionary medal (2) and several letters of commendation – among other ribbons and medals.  I also spent time at Camp Lejuene.At no time during my time there were “realistic urban training” exercises conducted in towns and cities.  This is a recent development.  A news article was sent to me earlier this week.  It appeared in the Beaufort Gazette.  The article stated that later this week about 150 Marines and Navy personnel will hold realistic urban training in Jasper County, South Carolina.

Realistic Urban Training is happening all over the U.S.  In Miami, Florida on January 26, 2013, Army Backhawk helicopters swooped through the city at night, firing door-guns and chasing make-believe bad guys like something out of an action movie.  The fired blanks echoed off of the buildings, scaring many residents into taking cover.  The local news reported excitedly about the exercise, stating it was only a drill and for residents not to be concerned. However, there was no journalistic follow up asking hard questions.  Such as, who authorized an exercise without informing the public?  Why conduct this type of training in a populated U.S. city and put citizens at risk?  Isn’t this a violation of Posse Comitatus?  No hard follow up questions were asked, and to my knowledge, have not been since.

Not even when the same exercise occurred in Houston, Texas on January 29, 2013.   The U.S. Army along with other agencies took over the Carnegie Vanguard High School in Houston on Monday. Alarmed residents called police and complained about gunshots and helicopters.  No details were provided about the training.  Watch the KTRK-TV Houston report and hear how alarmed residents responded after hearing gunshots and seeing military helicopters flying over their homes.

Wednesday, January 30, 2013.  The same types of exercises were conducted in Galveston, Texas.  The Houston Chronicle reported The training involved about 80 soldiers from the U.S. Army Special Operations Command in coordination with local law enforcement.

I’ve highlighted a few examples, but there are more.  In a search I came upon these others.  Los Angeles, CA,  Plainville and Worchester, Massachusetts.  As reported in the other stories, residents were unaware of the drills until helicopters swooped over their neighborhoods. And here’s more: Minneapolis, MN, and this in East Saint Louis, MO.  There are many more, but these links provide a foundation for further research.

I spoke with a high-ranking, military source in DHS.   Preferring to remain unnamed for obvious reasons, he told me, “DHS and DOD are conducting desensitizing exercises all across the U.S.,” he paused, then added, “we’re being prepared for mass civil unrest in major U.S. cities.  DOD will be expected to help – when we’re requested.”

I asked if there was a timeline for expecting civil unrest in our cities and why should we expect it to begin with.  I was told that there were many reasons, but that the continued devaluation of our currency, the predicted history-setting prices for gasoline this summer and the continued gun control debate are forming a perfect storm of civil discontent.  When this storm hits, it will most assuredly produce mass casualties.  When does DHS expect this to happen?  This summer.

From a high-ranking source deep within DHS, who has strong DOD ties, we are being told that joint DOD-local law enforcement exercises are to desensitize us to military occupation.  When asked if there was any concern about violating Posse Comitatus, he stated “no concern at all,” and added, “That’s been a non-issue for a long time.”

Reuters recently reported Jesse Jackson’s request for armed TSA in the streets of Chicago.  Is it no longer a question of IF we see armed soldiers patrolling U.S. streets – but WHEN?  And notice the way most mainstream media presents these training exercises.  They are presented nearly like entertainment

Over the past twenty years experiments have been
conducted on weather modification, particularly on the effects of seedinq clouds with such materials as silver iodide crystals.

It outlines a “special commission” to coordinate the multiple governmental agencies, independent contractors and universities. It also deals with managing  international, legal, social implications and mentions possible species disruptions, biological consequences and possible military use. We can conclude that weather modification has probably started as early as 1946. According to the above document the program was funded in 1967 with 6.25 million $ and the funding prospect for 1970 was  248.5 million $. We can only speculate as to the amount of funding today.

After decades of weather modification the climate is now severely disrupted, what we experience today is not natural weather. California to Spend Billions for Water Diverting Venture

SPENCER MICHELS: What worries Reynolds is a plan proposed by Governor Jerry Brown and U.S. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to build two wide 35-mile-long tunnels under the delta, so that much of the water from the Sacramento River will bypass the delta, and will flow by gravity directly to massive pumps, and then will be sent south.

It will be used to irrigate crops, as well as to supply cities in southern California. Those pumps have existed for decades, making some rivers flow backwards, killing millions of fish and degrading the habitat by allowing salt to intrude from the bay.

REP. JOHN GARAMENDI (D-Calif.): This is plumbing before policy. This proposal doesn’t develop one gallon of new water. But it delivers precious water that the delta needs, the fish need, the farmers need, the cities in the delta need, delivers that water to the pumps so that it can go south.

SPENCER MICHELS: This is not the first, and it certainly won’t be the last time that Californians are engaged in a major, nasty battle over water. In 1982, voters in this state rejected a plan to put a canal around the periphery of the delta. It would have made it easier to take northern California south.

DOUG HEMLY, delta farmer: The proposed volume that they’re saying they want to take theoretically would suck this dry, and you would have — be able to walk across it.

SPENCER MICHELS: Are you kidding, I mean, suck the Sacramento River dry?

DOUG HEMLY: There’s 14,000 cubic feet per second flowing by here. And they want to put in pumps that will suck out 15,000 cubic feet per second.

SPENCER MICHELS: Of course, they’re not saying they’re going to suck this dry.

DOUG HEMLY: Well, I think, if they don’t want to suck it dry, why build it so they could suck it dry? It doesn’t make sense.

Those environmental problems have prompted courts to restrict the flow of water. And that has caused southern water users to complain that their supplies have become unreliable and erratic. Salazar says fixing the system with tunnels is a major reason the federal government is involved.
